Our Approach
Creating and scaling pathways for OYYA in the Texas Gulf Coast region.
GHOYC has launched multiple initiatives focused on engaging Opportunity Youth and Young Adults (OYYA) to help them achieve their employment goals. The aim of our work is to reengage young adults in education or training while supporting the development of skills—such as communication and teamwork—necessary to retain employment and advance in their career.
All initiatives are primed for scaling to new geographic locations, increasing participating partners, and expanding focus areas.
Targeted
Engagement
We partner with local school districts and higher education institutions to access robust data sets to identify and engage disconnected young adults in career coaching and awareness activities to help them navigate a path to success.
Structured Career Pathways
We work to cultivate partnerships between training providers and employers creating smooth pathways for disconnected young adults into entry-level roles in high-growth industries. Current work is focused on pathways in the healthcare field.
Intensive Support Pathways
We connect youth and young adults with coaching and services to address immediate needs so they have the time and resources to focus on their future success. This work is executed through the Workforce Solutions NextGen program.
GHOYC’s Framework
GHOYC has structured its approach based on two research-based models from Jobs for the Future. They are designed to server young people who are our untapped talent, often living in communities with extremely limited resources. Each approach enables young adults to prepare for and transition into well-defined postsecondary and career pathways with opportunities for advancement.
Doing More, Together
Beyond high-impact direct support of young adults and the creation of reconnection pathways in the community, GHOYC also convenes 70+ stakeholders across 13 counties for greater collective results. Together, we can create a simpler, more supportive experience for young adults and a stronger, more resilient community for us all.
